Telling It with Action!
To follow up with the last post here is the next page in it’s entirety. It really is a great example of how to reveal a character for the first time, as it’s where we finally get to see Catwoman in costume. To do it with non stop action, like this, is even better! I love the unique layout Bruce Timm chose for this page. The overall vertical layout makes for some interesting choreography choices with the action. The nice large left panel holds the viewer for a moment to really feel the impact of the kick then it’s on to a fast pace sequence of back and forth action as Batman and Catwoman spar. The camera’s directional changes give the action a nice dynamic and I do like the subtle way Catwoman breaks the panel boarders in the middle as she flips towards us. I am happy dialogue was left out of the page as it’s omission really helps the pace of the action.
